Hey!

Has anyone tried the Hornet with a Headroom Micro Dac?

Just recently, my hd600s or my microstack had some magical transformation because now the sound has really opened up and i'm loving it.

Wondered if the Hornet M might be a better amp than the Micro (desktop module 05) and if it would also have good synergy with the Micro Dac. Plus, it's much more portable.

Any comments are appreciated.

chouman, I do have a Hornet M and live in Chicago. If you want, we can arrange a mini-meet at my place or somewhere else and you can listen to different combinations. You can also check how different is the HD650 that I have from your HD600 with Cardas cables. However, I am kind of busy these days, just give me a week or maybe a bit more than that to make an arrangement for a meeting. (I also ordered optical cable, I have to wait until it arrives as well).

The Mini-Meet is THE way to go. Great idea. That way you'll be trusting your own ears, rather than someone else's preferences/opinions.

Yes your own ears is the best way to determine. I can tell you I did the test and prefered The Hornet "M". On the other hand the Micro Dac is a beautiful piece of gear.

I wonder how the sound is compared to the HR micro amp without a dac?

I like the Hornet's rechargeable feature. And size, too.
