if you do not use it for efficient speakers it is more than powerful enough for the susvara...14 watts I believe if memory serves me.....I gave it a pretty good listen ast canjam

Power output aside between the two....it's still a different topology which theoretically makes a significant difference to the sound plus on top of that you can connect a much higher grade DAC to the EF1000 than what the in-built DAC of the EF1000DAC has to offer ! .
So all in all, theoretically the EF1000 with a high quality DAC should give you a higher level of musical experiences than the EF1000DAC will !
However, I can imagine the EF1000DAC is a very good Amp & DAC combo for a lot of different headphones. It would be good to do a direct A to B comparison between the EF1000DAC and the EF1000 with a DAC of the same / similar topology that the EF1000's DAC has built in.
If I was starting from scratch again, I would still go for the EF1000 with a separate DAC as an 'end-game' headphone system over the EF1000DAC, even it is was a lot more money as I would have far greater flexibility over input sources, can also use it for speakers (which I do and is very good) and knowing that I have THE best Amp for the Susvara (which I love) currently on the planet ! Of course, if I had multiple headphones and didn't care much for the Susvara, I would definitely also look at other TOTL end-game Headphone Amps that would definitely include the Trafomatic Primavera (with a multitude of DACs) and Aries Cerat Genus (with the Helena DAC).
