Hifiman IEM's: RE-400 and RE-600

I just got the RE-600 a few days ago from the $200 sale and I noticed the filter cover on the nozzle is collapsed in a little bit. There are also small strands of cloth sticking out. Is this normal? It looks pretty delicate compared to the metal filters on the DUNU-2000 that I have.

Did you buy from head-driect ?  How long did the whole process take ?

The entire process was super fast.  I bought from head-direct on Nov 17 AM (eastern time) and the RE600 arrived to me in Canada yesterday on the 21st.  They shipped (USPS) the same day as the order was placed.  Full marks and then some for turn around time.

The RE-600 has more bass presence and controls the treble is a little more (creating warmth).

had the re400 , have the re600

re600 has better, more robust bass

no comparison in my ears , especially at the 199$ price the re600 is a no-brainer if you're thinking of getting one of the 2

Thanks for your responses guys. The reason why I asked which one has more bass is because I generally prefer cans with little bass, and if the RE-400 has less bass, would it mean I may prefer it more? Cheers

edit: to add perspective to the question, I can get the RE-400 and RE-600 for $140 and $320, respectively (NZD, roughly translates to $110 USD and $250 USD, respectively).

If you prefer a neutral IEM, the RE-400 will be closer to your preferences.

the re600 is not a bass-heavy iem - it has a right amount of bass .

also the re600 is on sale at amazon/razordogaudio/head-direct for 199$

Yeah but getting one from amazon/etc would cost at least $20 USD for the shipping, and quite some time to get here. So I prefer to get one from a local shop, and they cost $110 and $250 USD, respectively.

Regarding the amount of bass, even if it is not a bass-heavy IEM, I personally am very picky of amount of bass - too much and I'd get headaches. Basically this is my preference: small amount of bass, flat mids, and maybe a bit elevated highs (I don't want a dark sounding IEM). Which one do you think would suit me better? Thanks for your help guys.

Hello,
Can you use or should I use an amp with the re400? I have a cmoybb amp would that amp work with the re400 or would it be overkill? I feel when I use the cmoybb pressure builds up in my ears? What's the recommend volume from phone(nexus 5) to amp?
Thank you for the responses!

One of mine is a bit like that. I initially wondered if that was why mine were much less dark than their reputation.
