An update on the problem I was having with interference/noise when listening to files from the SD card (with my JH16s) -

I purchased the GAME amp and installed it, and - no more noise.  Finally!

(Now I'm going to ask for either a refund for the GAME amp, or a replacement amp module that works with my JH16s - still not clear what the problem was - I still haven't seen a lot of talk about this being a widespread issue, so maybe it was just a bad amp (or a bad batch of amps).

Hope this helps

Your issue is the the original batch of standard amp modules gain settings were set to a bit higher than suitable for ultra-sensitive IEMs such as the JH16 Pros.  This has now been rectified in newer batches, so the standard amp modules now will work without any hiss/IF with these IEMs as well as most full-sized cans.

Would you please post a picture of the newly installed card and the old card as well. Thanks.

I have tried charging my set for a few hours, and the unit gets quite warm if I on the unit without playing any music, just to see the status of the charging.

Realised that if I power off the unit to charge, the unit does not seem to charge as it does not have the same heat like the normal charging.

How long will it be required to charge to full power typically?

I have been charging it for 4 hours now.... status is still charging and the unit gets really hot...

Thanks.

It charges, even if off.

The indication for charging is not optical but thermal

.
It's finished charging when it gets "cold" again

And true, it is much more hot when charging having it on.

Hey all. I expect few to be still using the hm801, but I'll appreciate whatever help offered. Thanks in advance.
The problem: my device can't be charged. I'm not sure if it's the issue of the battery or the charger. Anyone else got the same issue? Btw I'm on rockbox.

I'm sure you figured that one out by now... Hopefully! But yes, my player stopped charging after about 5 years (of intense use) despite getting a new battery. It still worked when connected to power cord but no charging.

I contacted Head Direct and they told me that because my warranty had long expired, I had to purchase the warranty extension ($99 for one year) in order to send it back for repair. I did and they sent me a brand new HM801
For those wondering.
The HM801 is still a wonderful sounding player IMO, especially with the balanced amp module. Long live the HM801...

Home made battery. Replacing old cells with new ones.
