so here it is-

the hm-801 arrived today, placed on a charger and went to get a 32gb card.

only two 32gb brand available....$94?  wow... okay 16gb will do at $24.

uploaded 24/96 flac files from hdtracks download.  learned that hm-801 came with two amp cards.  blue for the full headphone and green for the iem.  have a shure se535, but let's listen with the blue first.

sounds okay, but bassy.  popping sound when power turn on?  and volume turn all way down on the, i can still here music slightly.

hmm... let's switch to the green card.  F#$k, i bent/broke the plastic clip.  it won't engaged now, but card is still secured in place by the clip on the other side.  could have a better plastic clip.  errrrrrrrr!?!?!?!?  What

calm.

yes, i like the sound.  it is good.

$800 player-

more portable than my current marantz pmd 671.
with the shure se535, i would prefer the sound of the 671.
801 has better ui than the 671 and i don't need to wav the flac files as with the 671.

there could be better design on the 801, such as the amp card retaining tab.
i feel the outside coating make it look cheesy, wished it was matte black like the perimeter.

maybe i'm not doing it right.  it's no wowing.  no awe, just shocked that amp card retaining tab render useless.

i'll calm down a little and do more listening, maybe get better appreciation.
