When you guys say that 'stats sound electrical, I would have to agree with you there.  There shouldn't be huge difference in resolution at this level, I think realism of sound is quite important, and HE-6 has most realistic sound I've ever heard.

I've read Tyll's review, and surprisingly he like the HE-500 better. He says the HE-6 has too much treble, which I disagree with, I think it has too much, but just enough.  I just curious how the 500 sounds, I would think it would sound recessed after listening to the HE-6 given Tyll's impressions.

What do you guys think, some of you like the HE-500 more?

Also go back about three weeks to a month back in this (HE-6) thread for some conversation on the mod as well as the linked thread.

Thanks HC, the mods will take some time and effort it seems.

For the avoidance of doubt, I rank the headphones in the following order (donning a flame suit): SR009 > HE-6 >>> HD800. My ears and personal preferences of course. I hope the BHSE will widen the gap between the SR009 and HE-6 in a good way.

I agree.

The HE-6 is one of the best, only HD800 / LCD-X/3 with top level amp come close,

If you want to see how a more open grill sounds, remove your outer ring retaining those grills and remove the grill. No back pressure.

No, the grills removed are it. It's a temporary thing so you can put them back on. as for dust, I've not seen this to be an issue unless you're in a very dusty environment. I have mine under a lint free cloth to keep them clean. Any hair or skin is isolated by the earpad. The outside should be safe enough to try without them on as long as you handle them by the housings.

Thanks, I plan to remove the grill once I get my HE6s fixed. One of the channels died because of a problem with the cable and I am getting an upgraded cable soon.
