Sorry I have not ship you the cables yet. It has been crazy at work and I am out of town until Sunday. I will ship them to you next week for sure.

I have tried the Zeus, Apuresound V2 and V3, Silver Dragon, Black Dragon, Oracle and RAL. Out of all of them IMO the Zeus is the winner in my book. Now, about interconnects I really like the Wireworld Silver Eclipse and the Eclipse 6.

No worries, Jose!  With all the events going with the Astronomical Society lately, I've barely had a can on my head. Mostly in-ears when I'm mowing.

I still plan to have Robert re-cable my HE-6 this year. I just need to find a new home for the cable Drew made.

I also still really, really enjoy the HE-6. I'm down to four headphones now, and the HE-6 are still getting regular use. I have the Q-Audio Cable for them, and I use them with my 85 wpc Marantz 2285 receiver - and it is truly excellent.

For my headphone listening I like to take a break from the HE-6 every now and then. Tonight I've done some quality listening to the HE-6 after listening to my two other headphones (HTF600, HD650) for about a week or so. It's always amazing to come back to this headphone. Grand deep holographic soundstage, and clear sparkling treble are keywords for me listening to Florence and the Machine.

One thing I am noticing: that for all the HE-6's sonic prowess, it's pretty darn forgiving of substandard recordings (when it's fed properly).

Really?  I have quite a few tracks that are virtually unlistenable.  I can think of a few off the top of my head that have highs that are so piercing they cause physical ear pain.

I'm listening to some live Phish bootlegs, 16/44 320kbps mp3. Sounds better than I remember.

I think the treble if the HE-6 is very forgiving. Tracks with piercing sharp treble sounds nice on it. At the same time it is extremely revealing, transparent and resolving. Odd, but that's how I hear it.

Marantz 2285--

HPO good enough or you're in the back sittin' on taps with the HE-6?

Headphone out much, much more than sufficient. Can't come close to using 1/3 power.

I am using both the Pioneer SX 1250 and the Sansui AU-717 with just the HO for the HE-6, the power taps I made for both are rarely used.
If you are in LA, looking for a vintage amp it should not take you too long to find one, it's a buyers market here. The hard part is finding someone to work on it. I had to wait over six months to get mine serviced.

You know how it works, when I'm looking but not ready to buy...

I'll likely find the amp before the funds for the amp. Recent funds for tweaks and accessories could have bought me a nice amp already. Nice pair of amps you've got!

Have you tried asking someone from the Los Angeles and Orange County Audio Society?

I found a local repair guy who is kind of a legend here in LA. he owns a small shop on Ventura so no issue there. It's just that you need to wait if you want him. But I am all set now.
By the way I also have a Toshiba SA-7100 which I am thinking of selling, if you are in the market. It needs a good cleaning and perhaps some work but I would let it go for cheap. PM me if you are interested.
