Hi guys,
I'm struggling between he560 and T1.

I mainly listen to old rock & metal. I've enjoyed both t90 and dt880, but I haven't had a chance to audition to T1. I want something more engaging than hd700 or even dt880.

Can any body help?

The T1's sound nice, but I couldn't work out where my money was going when I auditioned them. They have the same feel and build quality of the DT880's, which are five times less expensive, while comfy, they don't have a particularly premium look or feel.

The 560's look, feel and sound every bit of their price tag, and then some.

pretty hard price to find, usually used and $600+, not $600 flat.

good luck tho!

found a deal for CAN$750 which is exactly US$594.81. Wish the canadian dollar was as strong as it was in 2011 to 2013 but this is an amazing deal. I wanna thank you guys for making me do some searches. Should be getting them on tuesday, next week could potentially be the start of a love story

Have fun- and please find the 1000 to be only a small improvement on the 560- noticeable but not Night and Day! Thanks

Will also be posting some instructions and measurements (finally!) of my modded HE-560 soon... so stay tuned!

Time to show the world what a modded HE-560 can do!

What's wrong with the build? Mine seems good to me- if not as pretty as the Audeze LCD 2 I was considering. For my purposes saving a $100 and getting better (to my ears) sound was a good thing. I don't think I could wear the Audeze 4 hours a day comfortably.
It could look prettier I suppose.

Have you had them in the same time?
Have you heard hd700 too?
I want something musical and engaging. Not laid back such as hd700. On the other hand, I don't want something overly U shaped like T90. I liked dt880, but something more engaging would be welcoming.

I had a DT 880 for more than a year, the560 is certainly more engaging. Never heard the HD 700 called laid back before.

Thanks, these kind of comments are what I want.

Owned HD700 and they are definitely not laid back

It definitely depends on your mental reference. We don't describe a headphone without having a mental reference. In this point, I compared hd700 with T90. I can say my previous sentence in another way: a headphone which is more engaging than hd700.

I didn't find the HD 700 laid back at all, the HE-560 and HD 700 have quite a lot in common. I was looking for headphones around the £300-500 mark when I auditioned the HD 700's, they are very analytical, I think they are very good for jazz, classical etc, but the sound was a little harsh to my ear. I preferred the HE-560 by some margin, especially when paired with a tube amp like my Lyr 2.

The build quality is actually very good. One time I accidentally yanked the cable, and it SLAMMED on the ground. The kinda slam that would probably crack or bend a smartphone. The he 560s? Nothing outside of a minor cosmetic scratch on the plastic baffle which I didn't notice until one week after. I'm a bit miffed but it still sounds and works the way it did when I first opened it.
