Interesting. Never compared them, don't have the Susvara. I find the HE400SE to sound very close to the Sundara, which scales similarly.

My taste says it beats sundara out of the water.

It sons the Arya V2 and expose all its weakness.

It has now come down to beating HE1000 Stealth for me!

I see. I used to have the Master 9. Great amp, but didn't work as good with HE-6 as my (more expensive) speaker amp. Better than most headamps, though.

However, the Schiit Vidar 2 is 699 USD new and works like a charm. Smaller too ,) There are several paths to great results

Its not all about amp.

DAC is the most crucial part.

Ah. No sorry. I used it as a reference in many reviews but never got around to make a standalone review.

It's the only amp I have had that sounds good with everything, so much I can say. It is just very, very big - only reason I let it go.

Im not a reviewer in same experience as you but I did own the RME ADI-2 FS.

Honestly I find some of the Hifimans meant for R2R which is evident in what they release for DAC preference, they ONLY release R2R dacs.

However the two headphones that made me doubt R2R was a little Arya V2. But 100% HE1000 Stealth, this sounds good on R2R, but it is a very fast responding(transients) it can get soulless to listen to…for dedicated music listening. Great for gaming and movies…

I agree. A good R2R is hard to beat. Master 7 is my all time favourite DAC.

However, we all have different ears, and the preference for a DACs character is a matter of ear-brain-DAC match
