I was told the v2 wouldn't fit the Ananda by HFM but who knows.

HFM seems to put a lot of effort in the drivers and not so much elsewhere. Certainly I have not heard much defense of the pads or cables (and general build)of the HE-6sev1, HE-500 for instance. Now I have not heard the Ananda with anything else but stock pads. Certainly early on there wasn't much out there for pads. But w/o comparison I wouldn't be confident in anything but drivers from HFM.Not sure about the big fuss with the earpads, the stock ones were designed to give the Ananda its sound signature and was tuned for it. Maybe a cable upgrade is much more beneficial sound wise.
While the Ananda has been at/near the top of the heap in its price range for some time - Adorama has made it possible for us to get the HE-6se v1 & v2 for less. IMO they both cream the Ananda for less money. Then there is the XS - lots of smoke, not ready to opine until I hear it, but could be another contender.
As far as tuning. Bass under 90 Hz lacks impact, transparent but thin, very thin sounding (harmonics anyone?), a little annoying at 6-7k. Tall image, little tight side to side, depth? meh, accurate well damped bass? Yes. As I've said for people raised and used to SS/portable sound they are fine. To me - artificial and somewhat fey.
My tastes: Susvara, LCD-4, Voce; HE-6/500 (modded), HE-6se, Clear, Senn 600/800S (on OTL only)
I find that the ear cushions of the headphones fulfill their function well: they are comfortable, the sealing is adequate, they can be replaced by the user and, after a year of intensive use, they keep their shape well (obviously with a slight deformation).Certainly I have not heard much defense of the pads or cables
The stock cables are another story: too light and with a memory effect that make them unpleasant to use.

It's true there are no outstanding issue with the Ananda pads. I can't say if there are sonic issues with the pads.I find that the ear cushions of the headphones fulfill their function well: they are comfortable, the sealing is adequate, they can be replaced by the user and, after a year of intensive use, they keep their shape well (obviously with a slight deformation).

You mean pads? For sure no chance.I was told the v2 wouldn't fit the Ananda by HFM but who knows.

for me the stock Ananda pads don't cut it
They turn the skin under my ear red with irritation
So I got the sealed variety with no perforations. Described as more and deeper bass and subbass. Was going for more seal and thicker sound
Look forward to detailed impressions with pics

I think there is only one model avalable: the SerenityPads. Which one have you got?So I got the sealed variety with no perforations
Just purchased for $599 on sale. I’m wondering if there’s a revision in the works and thus the current sale? Also, just purchasing for jazz/classical but am now wondering about the HE-6se v1 & v2 mentioned above—better for classical and jazz?

Hello all, I am considering picking up an Ananda while it is on sale but worry the cups might be too tall(long) for my small head. Can someone do a quick measurement of theirs? From the top-most part of the earpad to the lowest point where the jaw would be. Thanks in advance!

That sale price is pretty normal these days. Hopefully they listened to complaints if there's a revision coming.

I still made out better even after the pad upgrade which personally I believe is going to make a substantial difference ![Grinning face with sweat  😅](https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f605.png)
I don't know if it's called serenitypad. Haven't seen that name... They're aftermarket from Shenzhen, handmade to order. advertised as lambskin with memory-foam pads, you can pick perforated like stock or elect for un-perforated which is what I chose. Looking for a little isolation personally
I find the stock pads hardly adequate. imo they are the bare minimum HFM could get away with while supplying the headphone commercially
to me -- seems like old Fang had a cousin with a sheepfarm who he gave the blueprints of the pads to as an extra hustle lol
Can't wait !
