Hi, im from the UK and im new here so a big hello to you all
biggrin.gif

I was wondering if any of you folks would be able to help me with some reccomendations.

Im currently looking for a new pair of headphones and at the moement i have shortlist of the following headphones:

KOSS UR40
Sennheiser HD201
Creative HQ-1300
Sony MDR-V300
Sony MDRXD100
Sony MDR-V150

Can anyone give me any impressions/review on these headphones? i'm willing to listen to other considerations on headphones apart from the ones listed above as long as their at a similar price.

I mainly listen to Rap and Indie/Rock. Comfort is the most important issue for me because i will be mainly using it with my portable mp3 player. Im really looking for full size headphones because i dont find in-ear earphones or clip-ons quite comfortable. thanks

Thanks for any help

What is your upper limit price wise and are you going to get an amp anytime soon?

Sennheiser HD 201 is a good choice.

You say you don't want clip-ons or in-ears... but would you take supraaurals? They can be more compfortable than full-size cans.
If you don't mind open, look into the PX-100s. You might prefer the sound of the Koss models, but I haven't heard them.

supraaurals are fine too. also another fairly important thing is cord length. im not looking for studio length cords coz those would be an hassle since i'll mainly be using the headphones on the move. thanks for the help so far

I'll second the PX100. Other options that should be workable are:
HD201
HQ-1300
MDR-XD200 (the '100 may not be all that comfy)
UR-40 (probably a tad on the expensive side)
Just stay away from the MDR-Vxxx series.

The HD457 isn't too bad. Lacking in detail and treble somewhat, but certainly decent sounding. They tend to clamp quite firmly, though so comfort can be an issue, especially if you wear glasses.

One vote for the Creative HQ-1300 from my side. Sounds way better than the PX100 and k24p to my ears, btw...

AHH! STAY AWAY FROM THE V150s!

Seriously, they sound very muddy. They also get uncomfortable after a few hours of use. Only reason I bought them was because I was short on cash and was at a local K mart and needed a pair of cans ASAP.
