To give experience, I have a set or HD 598s and a 2012 xonar stx essence sound card in my desktop. I bought the 598s for serious gaming, but now would enjoy a new flavor of cans. I'm looking for something with a bit more bass, but not overwhelming or detrimental to the music I listen to; be it various Rocks, Hard Punk, some Metals, or the occasional mainstream Pop. Also it would be nice if I could still play games with them without a problem. I'm looking for suggestions around the $300 price range. I'm currently looking into the Akg brand cans, but not necessarily limited to this brand. If anyone could provide me with some insight I would appreciate it greatly.
