I bought a nomad jukebox 3 a while ago and it's quite a nice player. however, i have two big problems with it:

1) no firewire support under linux and usb 1.1 is much too slow

2) it's too big.

so, i'm looking for a small joggable player with linux support and a good line-in.

why is it that so few of these players also record?

Because encoding is better done on a PC anyway. Although I like the feature, I've never had to use it on my NJB3.... I'd rather have a preamped mic input, really.

NJB3 did a beautiful line in --> wav but it's kinda big to smuggle in to shows.
