Help flashing AV-710 to prodigy
Nov 26, 2005 at 10:40 PM Post #32 of 56
my only experience with KS is with ASIO Out in winamp. It was using the regular primary sound out that comes with winamp when using the prodigy drivers.

So what im saying is... i don't know. :p

Hi,
I flashed my Hercules Fortissimo 4 envy24ht based sound card (two Wolfson DAC) with prodigy eeprom. (only front speaker works)

But I have problem with 48 khz music wich are played too rapidly. (drivers show 48khz sample rate)

May be Master clock problem ?
When i select external clock, my video (with 48khz sounds) is played at normal speed (whith no sounds), with internal clock, video and sound speed up again.

Please anyone can help me ?

Here is my eeprom content for your collection

the envy cards come with two crystals, one for 44.1 samplerates, which is always 512x44.1 and the other for 48kHz, which can be either 512x48 or 1024x48.. so you have to flash to a card which uses the same set of crystals, otherwise you get too slow or too fast playback of 48/96/192 material.. from your report it is clear that Fortissimo IV uses 1024x48= 49.152MHz crystal, while Prodigy has 512x48= 24.576MHz one..

PS: I've updated the flashing package with Fortissimo4 eeprom definition..

I am really disappointed... I don't understand why same dsp use different crystal on differnent sound card??? (is it DAC related ?)

Nobody here know how to tweak the prodigy drivers, for others crystal, dacs ...?

Bringing up an old thread again: I have an Fortissimo 4 and would like to reflash it to get proper digital out funtions: automatic swith from 44.1 to 48, 96 etc
I tried to flash it with the prodigy eprom and got proper digital switching BUT with to fast playback of 48 material. Any ways around this problem?

can you flash this soundcard without a floppy? maybe by a usb thumb drive?

I don't currently have a floppy drive installed

I used HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool to make my Flash Drive bootable. But I think it needs a floppy to grab the boot files.

I just found that HP USB Key Utility can make a bootable USB Flash drive with a floppy/disk image.

You can also use Nero to create a bootable cd very easily.

somehow google sucks and I cant find a guide, but its right there as an option when creating a new cd.

Hiya,

took me a while to find this thread or a thread that had the prodigy flash avail.. as the guides said click here to download but had no links.

In any case i have the file with prodigy, original chaintech and many other eprom ids for various other cards.

What is the best one to flash with for bit perfect?

I have been looking for a soundcard that i can connect to my dac and currently using creative audigy 2 zs.

picked up this chaintech for 50 here in canada and am looking forward to checking it out.

Before i start to flash just wanted to find out if one is prefered over the ohter.

i.e aureon sky, fortissimo 4, revo 7 1... etc etc

got lots of eprom id files in the package.

thanx

flash it to prodigy,,and for the prodigy you only need to run EeprwA and in disk have the EEPROM.INI file..but if you want to flash back your card to av-710 you must rename the av710 file to EEPROM.INI and substitute it in the disk.
Hope it helps..sorry my english

Took me a while to give this a go... i just flashed it to prodigy and installed hte prodigy drivers (v 2.012).

I am trying to get bitperfect from any card and my dts playback fails... the drivers are very odly made as they have undescriptive buttons.

COX, PRO, CON.

Under the digital section.

Anyone care to input on what i have to set and where to get bitperfect?

thanx

Mine passed the dts test like a charm. I will check the version and setup when I get home.
