Why hello there, I am new here as I am also new to the "audio world". In the past (though i did not realize it) I have been using really crappy headphones such as skullcandys, apple earphones, iFrogz Noise Pollution, etc. And even more recently the Bose OE2i and Beats by Dre Solos (very worthless purchase, selling them at the moment.) And I was wondering if the forum had any good recommendations for headphones.
 
I am looking for headphones that would suit multiple genres (Primarily hip hop, rap, pop, alternative rock, and acoustic rhythms) with the best sound possible. I am also looking for headphones that I would wear in public (in cars, planes, casual bike rides) so I would like them to be somewhat stylish and comforting. I have heard great reviews of the Audio Technica M50s and the Phillips Uptowns. What are YOUR recomendations. Keep it fairly simple, I'm only now starting to understand headphones

Well, one thing we need to know is your budget.
If you're looking at the M50s I assume around $150?

and if you plan to buy an amp in the future or not.

Yes my budget is around 100-150 dollars, i prefer closed but open ones will do, and i do not plan on purchasing an amp (saving for other things)
