^ type of music im interested in listening to with these headphones. 
 
Currently my set up:
HD 650
Vali + Modi Stack
 
Headphones I've been having trouble choosing from :
-Hifiman HE-400
-Audio technica A900
-Audio technica W1000x
-Open to suggestions
 
What I'm looking for:
-Something fun, has more bass than the HD 650
-Something that emphasis female vocals
-Fun headphones
-Different from HD 650 sound signature.

I would suggest the HE-400's. They are also only $300. I doubt you can find something better anywhere close to that right now.

I agree with the Hifiman HE-400.  The planars work really well with an amp/dac and should definitely bring out the upbeat music.

The HE-400 is 300$, but would it be better if I just saved up alittle more and get the HE-500 at 530$ from a friend?

I also purchased the DT 880 Premiums 250OHMS....was planning on returning them because read some reviews saying that they were near the same signature as the HD 650s, and I want something different.

I wouldn't say the 880's are the same signature as the 650's. I felt the 880's were actually a little bright for my tastes.
 
Keep in mind the HE-500's are only $600 right now, talk your friend down a bit if you can.
 
Or, what you can do, if you can wait, Hifiman's new models are coming out April-ish, you might want to wait to see what they sound like (they certainly are a lot lighter).

Aren't the W1000x very similar to the HD 650. Also if I do upgrade to the HE-500, would there be a point in having the HD 650 still?

W1000X have more mid bass and female vocals sound great, better than on HD650. If you buy HE-500 I don't think is a reason to keep HD650.
