If given a choice of the following which is yr choice?

1) Headsave classic V1 with dual OPA627
2) Supermacro V1 with dual 2227 (4 switches)?

What would the sound different??

First off, the Supermacro does not use a dual op amp, but a single op amp for each channel...so it really has two 227's, I believe...unless he changed the design substantially with the V3.

The 227's will have no top at all with more bass and probably less instrument separation. After trying other op amps, I really do not like the 227's. If I got that thing in my hands, I'd switch out the op amps immediatly for AD797A, AD744A, or NE5534A. It's very easy to do and will take you about ten minutes. Op amps are free if you order them from analog.com.

As for the Headsave classic V1, I have never tried one. But if I desired transportability and versatility, I'd go with the SM V1.
