Are there any decent Canadian e-tailers that carry a range of high quality headphones/canalphones? There's only one high end audio store where i live and they deal solely in grado, which, despite having listened to the entire line up to and including the RS-1, i just can get used to.
I really envy the americans on this board that have quick and easy access to a huge selection of headphones and can also take advantage of deals on sites like buy.com.
Are there any comparable alternatives in Canada or available to Canadians?

Minidisc Canada carries Sennheisers

You can also take a ferry ride into Vancouver and go to
http://www.hificentre.com/ or
http://www.signatureaudio.com/

http://www.sfm.ca/ears/ carries Shure as does Marco Polo
http://www.marcopolo.ca/

Many Head-Fi's sponsors will ship to Canada, for exemple:

http://www.audiocubes.com/ ships directly from Japan to Canada

http://www.toddthevinyljunkie.com/ Todd is great to deal with and offers excellent service to Canada

Usually prices are cheaper in the USA. Have it shipped via USPS. You only have to pay a $5 brokerage fee and GST. If you have them shipped UPS have it sent UPS Express, it cost more but the brokerage fee is uncluded in the price. If you use UPS ground it is not and goes by value of item.

But the best bet is to buy used from the Headphones for sale here at head-Fi. This is where you will find the best prices.

Hi,

I have personally bought from these Canadian etaillers:

http://www.minidisc-canada.com
For some reason Minidisc Canada is able to provide the best Sennheiser headphone prices in Canada. E.g. the Senn HD497 where they are selling for CDN$79.00 and everywhere else is selling for CDN$107. One more plus, if you are outside of Ontario, you only pay the GST and shipping cost.

My sister bought a pair of Grado SR60 from Audioshop and I can attest to their EXCELLENT service. Free overnight courier (Fed-ex) for Grado headphones. Since Grados are never discounted and you can't purchase Grados from US sites (due to Canadian Distributorship agreements), AND Grados don't allow selling of their phones via auction site (otherwise you void your warranty), I would say Audioshop is your main source. Again, if you are outside of Ontario, no PST.

Haven't bought from them but they are another site you can purchase Grados from. They are the same price but will charge shipping.

Good luck!

I can back up the claims about Audio Shop. They're local to me, and I have never been dissapointed with them. I bought my SR-80s from them. They patiently waited for me to listen before buying. The Yamaha RX-V596 I bought from them something like 6 ago was obtained for a good price, and has never failed me and it has many 1000s of hours of use on it. Admittedly, this is more of a statement about the receiver than them -- but they're a good shop.

BTW - This thread is excellent.. I'll have to check out some of stores listed!

That's not quite true. I got my Grados with a fair discount at a Canadian authorized dealer. I'm sure any dealer is willing to move a bit if you ask.

Really? How much did you get off? However, I don't think you can move much with a SR60...they are not that expensive to begin with. Also, I've finally caved and bought a pair of Alessandro MS1s and am waiting for them to arrive with trepidation.

Since they are 100% made in US, should be free from duties (NAFTA) and for US$99 for a SR125 equivalent pair of cans, should be pretty good deal! I think I just have to pay GST and PST plus a $5 handling fee..
