I bought LCD2 specifically for metal/rock, to complement Arya Stealth - they simply cannot do metal, unfortunately. Good for ambient or classical though. But LCD-2 can do every genre, really.Yup, my LCD-2s are nearly my exclusive metal headphones at the house. The Utopias are a close 2nd...

Went for the LCD-2 Classic because I like that pre-fazor warmth and I have yet to hear a single metal album that they don't do amazingly with. Could there be improvements? Sure, nothing is truly perfect, but outside of saving up for the 3 I'm set. Audeze just nails "impact" for me.

It's weird because they HAVE done live demos. People have posted on their own accounts about heading to NY and listening to them. Industry professionals HAVE gave testimonials.They're still advertising like crazy on IG:
But it's starting to feel like the only made a small handful of actual products, and that photo they posted showing a bigass truck full of boxes and a whole rack of headphones was just props.

Any suggestions for a budget closed back pair for metal? Short list includes Meze 99 Neos or Classic (no clue which is better) and K371. Definitely prefer a warmer signature with deep bass for kick drums. Also looking at sundara closed but that is stretching the current budget a bit.
Edit: If we're stretching the budget I could also add DT1770 to the list!

The Meze sounds like what you want out of those. Also the Drop Ultrasone Signature X is great for the money as well.Any suggestions for a budget closed back pair for metal? Thanks! No access to the ultrasone in my country unfortunately but I can get the neos at a really good price (190€). Any idea if the classics warrant paying 310€? I mean they do include the longer cable which I need and look beautiful but I'm not sure about the differences in sound signature, especially when it comes to metal.The Meze sounds like what you want out of those. Not 100% sure, but I think the driver is the same for both, but the Neo is made a bit cheaper to lower the price. I think they sound the same. Others might be able to chime in and confirm.Thanks! If available, grab the 99 Noir from Drop. I recommend using the smaller, 2nd set of pads they come with.Any suggestions for a budget closed back pair for metal? Same driver doesn't necessarily mean they sound the same. A lot of Grados use the same driver but changes in the housing and materials can affect the sound significantly.Not 100% sure, but I think the driver is the same for both, but the Neo is made a bit cheaper to lower the price. Anyone has tried the audient ID4/ID14 as a DAC with built in preamp? I'm looking to hook up my guitar to my laptop while keeping the same audio quality from my fio e10K.
I think monkey4054 recommended me these before. It probably would be an upgrade right?;

Same drivers in all 3 models. The wood models have more of an organic tonality.Same driver doesn't necessarily mean they sound the same. A lot of Grados use the same driver but changes in the housing and materials can affect the sound significantly.

I have been using Monolith M570 to listen to most of my metal collection and I am finding them surprisingly good, especially stuff that is more symphonic and/or psychedelic. Dark Tranquillity's last few albums sound incredible on them. Ditto for Kalmah, Amorphis, Deafheaven, Oathbreaker, Mol. Sometimes they are a little too revealing with sludgy sounding stuff not sounding sludgy enough, it takes some of the ooomph out (thinking specifically about Mastodon - Remission) but there are others. Old school death metal and grindy stuff sounds great though (Phrenelith's Desolate Endscape in 24 bit sound is absolutely pummeling)
