Thermal management has a huge impact on component life.  As the owner of a Rappaport Amp One, which used quality components and sounded great when it was functioning, even the best components fail faster in a high heat environment.  The PSU on the BHSE does not have the Rappaport level of thermal management problems, but clearly, Justin was addressing a perceived thermal problem with the PSU when he made changes to the bottom of the unit to provide more ventilation after the first group.

I keep my series one PSU on a tall set of cones with plenty of room around it and it still gets hotter than I think is healthy for its internals.  I have asked for a replacement bottom plate but it appears those are all committed to the current production.  I hope in the future he will order some extras.  I don't mind incurring the cost of doing that.  I want my BHSE to last at least my lifetime. I like it that much.

the last BHSEs of batch #2 are burning in (2 of them arent pictured here).  i'll actually be able to build 3 or 4 more amps from batch #2, as all i am missing are heatsinks since the machine shop had damaged a few of them.  once i get the heatsinks finished for the batch #3 BHSEs, i'll be able to ship out another 3-4 amps.

Yuck! I'd rather have a pink edition than that! Good that you like it googli!

I'd imagine you would have to pay a premier for the pink edition. The silver knob edition is just at the same price as other BHSEs.

By the way, just curious - during my use of tube amps, I was repeatedly told, and I did oblige to the rule that the amp must connect to an output, be it speakers or headphone, otherwise the amp may burn. I think LF has some kind of protection circuit but I also dare not leaving it on without a headphone connected for any extended period of time. Does it not apply to the BHSE? Because I don't seem to see any headphones connected to the BHSEs in the pics. Thanks.

The bhse is fine with out a load.
The main reason for this association is from tube amps with transformer coupled outputs.

No need to lower the volume to change headphones.

Still haven't got a tracking number - I will need it to estimate the time of arrival as I live alone and need someone to come over to pick up the Fedex delivery when I am at work. So, if possible, could I get a tracking number when it is shipped? Thanks again Justin!
