Sorry if this has been asked before but when searching the forums i found info about each headphone but no comparisons.

So for the background info i have grado sr-80's and i really like the detail they have, But i am looking for a closed can with a little more powerful bass and close to the same amount of detail for around $200

I listen to mostly hip hop, hardcore rock and electronic music...which headphone out of the listed fills these requirements best. Also if you have any suggestions i more than willing to research them out.

I also have a nuforce mobile icon if driving any of the headphones i listed is a problem

Thanks for any and all help...

I think a lot of feedback you will receive about the AKG (at least the 271) is that they do lack a lot of bass.
I have the AKG 272 (same drivers as 271) and the bass is ok but far from been the earthquake you may want with the big hip hop boom and so on.

x2: it seems the akg k271 is a bit base-light, which may be OK for me (as i listen to jazz), but not for you (per your interests). i have read some great things about the d2000--but it's hard to get at a good price ...

From the replies so far it seems as though the akgs are out of the running as they are too base-less...i am checking into the ultrasone that 1Time suggested and i think i am liking what i read so far...

Do you know if the HFI580's bass is so strong that it drowns out the vocals or other instruments??...it seems as if some people think so

Lancaster this is off topic but how do you like the pairing of the sr80 with the icon mobile...i have the same set up and my music has never sounded better!!

abellaw: here's another off topic question. in what context do you use the SR80s? i ask because i am concerned with leakage--as i would use them at home, where i'm often in the same room with others. do you use them at home or work? and do you use them in the same room with others? thanks for any help you can provide.

Careful with the HD25-1, it may have too much bass for you.

I use the sr80's at home, i have taken them out with me but the cord is too long and i am 6'4. Also they dont isolate sound too well.

I would say they leak a lot of sound definately to the point where others in the room would hear what your listening too. But even more of a problem is that you can hear everything in the room so the headphones cant really shine unless you are in a quiet place.

To towert7 i think the more bass the better as long as it is not muddy i am using portapros right now and i like the bass but it is too muddy
