Ive decided to get a pair of hd 595s now, and I was wondering A. How big of a difference there would be amped vs unamped, and B. if there are any amps in particular that work well with them? Thanks.

Depending on the source, they don't necessarily NEED an amp, but they do cerainly benefit from one. Primarily the soundstage and bass benefits from the extra power.

I use a Headsave Classic with excellent results, but since those are no longer made, I'd probably suggest a Portaphile X^3 or V2^2, depending on your price range.

I'm using a Shellbrook Audio Lab Maxi Moy with my HD-595s, but mainly for watching movies and it seems to do a fine job in rounding things out, especially adding a little extra bass on them. Really does a nice job on dialogue as well.
