So I've noticed that there are several younger members on Head-Fi with a lack of appreciate/understanding of rock music. Now I'm not a big fan of the hippity hop that most kids enjoy today (BTW, I'm 42...so I'm not that old

). I'm making sure to raise my two kids right (10 and 6 years old) by immersing them with Pink Floyd, AC/DC, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and of course Rush!

I thought it might make for an interesting thread to recommend some truly amazing rock albums for these younger members to check out. Here are a few of my standards (in no particular order):

1.) Moving Pictures - Rush
1.a) Fly By Night - Rush
2.) Back In Black - AC/DC
3.) The White Album - The Beatles
4.) Exile on Main Street - The Rolling Stones
5.) Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd (likely my favourite album of all time)
6.) Wish You Where Here - Pink Floyd
7.) The Wall - Pink Floyd
8.) Zeppelin IV (aka ZoSo) - Led Zeppelin
9.) Physical Graffiti - Led Zeppelin
10.) Led Zeppelin I - Led Zeppelin
11.) Tommy - The Who
12.) Born in the USA - Bruce Springsteen
13.) Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen
14.) The Plastic Ono Band - John Lennon
15.) Imagine - John Lennon
16.) Band on the Run - Paul McCartney
17.) Appetite for Destruction - Guns and Roses
18.) School's Out - Alice Cooper
19.) The Black Album - Metallica
20.) Master of Puppets - Metallica
21.) Paranoid - Black Sabbath
22.) Heaven and Hell - Black Sabbath

...any more?

There are of course hundreds of possibilities here.

Here are a few of my standards (also in no particular order):

1) Jefferson Airplane - Surrealistic Pillow
2) Buffalo Springfield - For What it's Worth
3) Cream - Disraeli Gears
4) Doors - Doors
5) Rolling Stones - Aftermath
6) Jimi Hendrix - Are you Experienced?
7) Byrds - Mr. Tambourine Man
8) Janis Joplin - Big Brother and the Holding Company
9) Beatles - Revolver
10) Who - Who's Next?
11) Santana - Santana
12) Grateful Dead - American Beauty
13) Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
14) Creedance Clearwater Revival - Creedance Clearwater Revival
15) Moody Blues - In Search of the Lost Chord
16) Quicksilver Messenger Service - Happy Trails
17) Eric Burden and the Animals - Best of the Animals
18) Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks
19) Neil Young - Everybody Knows this is Nowhere
20) It's a Beautiful Day - It's a Beautiful Day

And while you're at it, even though it's not strictly rock, don't forget the Motown . Start with the Four Tops and the Supremes.

Obviously I'm a generation older than M.H.

Nice idea for a thread!

When you get on a Mac or PC, please list your favourite rock albums!

On the Mac...

Rock from A to Z... some of my fave stuff... some less discussed gems and will try as much as possible to run away from the usual suspects... but some of them are impossible to go around. Trying not to recommend  more than 3 per band... which in many cases is a crime against humanity... at best... stuff made before the 90s only (I think)
