I was just thinking about this while listening to "because you're young" off Bowie's "Scary Monsters".   It has a really great intro that gets me excited every time I listen before I remember that the song isn't all that great.

What other songs can't live up to their promising intros?

This is a really, really good discussion topic.

Unfortunately I can't think of anything right now. So if my post was made into song, it would work quite well here.

Slipknot's first single off their newest record, "Psychosocial" has a great intro, and then just sounds like a bad Metallica rehash...

^ Seriously? I could not disagree more. Crazy train is full of Randy Rhoad's excitement.

Oh yeah. How about Metallica's "Enter Sandman"?

And Dream Theater's "6:00". The opening drums are fantastic. A lot of progressive music has a great intro but falters in the end once all 27 instruments have entered.
