Hello all,

I've been recently inspired to attempt a recable of my old Sr-225's. I'm a bit limited by budget, so I'm looking into Homegrown Audio for some 24 awg braided silver cables. However, I'm a bit unsure as to what braiding use for the cable. Specifically, I know that the newer Sr-225i has eight wires in its cable. Assuming that the Sr-225 has the same amount, would I need to buy the 8 wire braid or could I get away with a 4 wire braid without a difference in performance?

As this is my first mod, any advice on cables to get or really, recabling in general would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

4 wire braid will be fine. The 8 wires are twisted together and soldered on just 2 pads each (effectively 4 wire). As long as you use heavy enough wire (24awg or thereabouts) you'll be fine.
