Ok. I sent back my third pair today to my Uk dealer because the thread on the headband had started to come away.
The story goes:
I got a pair, the thread was a mess, and the print looked garbage, so I sent them back. Got another pair and the print was even worse. Got my money back fro John Lewis
Went straight to the dealer this time (armour electronics) instead of John Lewis, and the ones they sent were ok, but again this time the thread went on the headband.
I'm in talks with the dealer now to get another pair, even though they are intending to pull the entire order.
One of the warehouse staff went and checked the boxes before they sent me the third pair and put one to the side because it was ''very dirty''. So At least I know I'm not going crazy.
I sent a lengthy email to Grado explaining to situation before i received the third pair, and asked if I could buy straight from them.
This is the response:
Hi Lee
thank you for your email
Please understand that what you are looking in hopes of a certain finish may not exist.
Please understand that our products are made by hand and there will be differences in the finish.
So I responded with:
Thank you for the quick reply.
I'm afraid I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one.
I've just received another pair of ps500 and the print on the cup is pretty much perfect.
I completely understand that the majority of the headphone is handmade (a look I am a fan of), but this part of the headphone is clearly done by machine, and on this occasion there are few in a batch that weren't given a good finish at all. And as stated in my previous email some of the letters had been pressed in more than others, giving a very abnormal, dark look to them.
100% of the pictures I have seen online don't look like that.
Anyway,
Thank you for the hard work you put in. I have tried many high-end headphones, and these are by far my favourites - and I hope to purchase the RS1I's next.
They never replied.
I've read countless stories about them having bad customer service, but I didn't expect such a short, generic, impersonal response like that. And then to be ignored really wound me up.
These cost A LOT of money in the UK.
I'm still determined to get a good pair of ps500's - I think they're amazing.
