Grado modders go Magnum

Instead of coming out with new versions of the one driver, offer, for example, choices like v6 and v7.
I personally liked the v4 the most and disliked the v6 the least. I hate recessed mids (of v6), especially in a grado. It's a oxymoron.
I would offer a really warm sounding version and a really neutral sounding version. That usually covers most people's preferences.
@sling5s - You don't feel like the different versions have done that? The V6 has much more midbass than the V4 IMO.

i love the bass response of my V6
so much so that I bought a 2nd pair

I haven't experienced any recession of the midrange and there is  certainly no lack of clarity in the high end nor any sibilance which is great.

the only EQ'ing i do is to set the clear bass on my Sony Walkman DAP  to +3 (+10 being the max) - so.. i guess i am a basshead after all if the V6 bass alone isn't enough for me

but even without the extra bass boost from my DAP the V6 sound superb  with any genre of music ,yet i find is especially love them for techno, idm and electronic music .

the only cans in my collection which get more headtime are my Grado PS500e and those cost me three times as much as my V6 build (but they were worth every penny) .that said i look forward to see what Rhydon does next. V8 perhaps?

Hi everbody,

I live in France and my english is not perfect sorry, but I try to do the best.

I found a lot of informations on your forum to upgrade my SR325i. I modified it with new wires, woodcups, and Gpads.
Sound is much better than stock, but there is still a litlle bit high frequency which are agressive, and a lack of bass... It's come from the stock's drivers.

It's very difficult to find drivers for this headphone. The turbulents's X driver are sold out and V7 from symphones too...

Do you think symphones will output a new version soon? Or there is another way to have better drivers for Grado?

That's my Headphones:

Thanks for sharing! I think you're selling me on the rholupat quality. I was going to just get gimbals, leather band, and rodblock from Adhi, but those looks so, so nice. Did you buy all of those parts (and then I guess the cups) from Adhi? Wire, driver, and earpads, and done?

Cups, gimbals, rod blocks from rholupat
Earpads are just L-cush ones from ebay ($20)
Wire is from link I posted above, I don't mind the stock grado wire with the cheaper sets though
Driver is from symphones

if you already have a metal rod for the headband I'd go with these headbands http://turbulentlabs.com/leather-manta-headbands, quite a bit thicker.

I must be crazy--I can't find any links to Headband Rods in any of the links I've seen in your posts. :frowning2:
