I need some suggestions for recabling for my HD-650's. I've already checked out Double Helix, Moon Audio, APureSound, and Vampire. Which cables are best matched with the 650's? btw, the pricing is crazy expensive. I'm seeing 250+ pricing for 4-6 feet cables. Any suggestions?

DIY is always a good option. Not hard, especially considering the hd-650s have a detachable cable. Just get yourself a decent soldering iron. Cardas sells the special plugs for attaching to the phones. You can easily make a cable for $40 or less.

Screw $40. If you can wait a week, I'm making the first ever Monoprice HD650 cable. Price will be $20 for a 6-footer. It will be epic.

(This is parts cost, I'd be building/selling one for a the hell of it, not profit)

Sweet! Can you add bling options to it for extra? haha

Oh yes, this will not be any ordinary Monoprice cable. I have a sample piece of the "Chrome XC" sleeving from Techflex that I have no use for. It's going to look like Paul Wall's teeth. It won't cost extra, this is the head-fi special edition.

I had to look up Paul Wall because I wasn't familiar with the name. Now it all makes sense.

On many levels, I'm glad you don't know who he is.

That is superb! Keep us updated on it!

To the OP: If you want to try DIY, buy the Moon Audio Blue Dragon for $8.50/foot. That's the cheapest option so far. Add in $5 for a 1/4 Neutrik and $16 for the Cardas Sennheiser connectors.

I'm still burning in my new HD-650's, so I can afford to wait a little.

My SAA Equinox cables are really well matched with my HD650s. I would highly recommend them! You can find them used on the For Sale Forum at times for about $170 - $200.
