Many reviewers actually don't use conditioners at all and rely solely on passive power bars. But the interesting thing about power distributors/regenerators/conditioners is that they improve sound in a way that doesn't change it at its core. We get essentially the same sound profile, but better.
Oh and, I watched a video about iFi recently and I didn't realise that you folks now have a head office about 30 miles from where I live in Yorkshire! I like you folks even more now.
Hi guys I found a good deal for an used one and bought It. So far I like the sound and It seems an upgrade over my Aune x7s.
My GLmk2 has a serial of 021.
I read about the cap mod that can improve the sound a Little further and I have some questions:
1) my unit should be one of the first batch with the old caps, right?
2) Is It possibile to diy the mod or should I ship the amp to headamp or some qualified technician?
3) Is It really worth?
I'm using my Mk2 as my office amp right now. I've thought about getting the power supply but at $300 I may as well put that money toward something end game like a Topping A90 then sell the Mk2. $300 for a power supply is kind of ridiculous IMO.

When I got into this hobby power conditioners were becoming all the rage. I picked one up for I think $150 locally in 2006 and it still works perfectly fine. These days people don't even really talk about power conditioners.

HeadAmp Gilmore Lite II + Golden Reference p/s/u is far better than Topping A90: if detailed, natural sound having wide dynamics and ‘palpable’ soundstage matters …

As @jonathan c says, the GR-PowerSupply is a custom discrete design for the GL2 Amplifier, based on the same GR-Low-Voltage design that is used in the GSX-Mini.
On the GSX-Mini, the power circuit is just above the toroidal transformer
... compared to the GRLV for GL2, just above the two onboard MeanWell Switching units (instead of a toroidal).
... and replaced a generic 'brick' power supply sourced from China. A well designed, custom PS will always trump a generic PS.

I think that many listeners hold power conditioners in high regard. The cool part about this product category (...and power components in general) is that once you have something, you don't replace it as often as DACs, amps, speakers or cans. May your power conditioner serve you well for another 20 years then

It certainly looks very nice but what does the Golden Reference do exactly? Like will it give more power for hard to drive cans like the HE6 or other planars?
