So many pieces…"Winter In America", for starters, is evergreen. When Japan's nuclear plants began threatening meltdown after the recent earthquake, I kept returning to "We Almost Lost Detroit", about the Fermi I power-plant incident back in 1966. Actually, I dig the whole album it's on, Bridges. The first song has a line that goes, "Good advice, you just can't put no price on…bad advice is easy, 'cause it's free…" RIP Gil…

Such sad news. His lastest album, "I'm New Here" wasn't as perfect (maybe) as his earlier work, but still strong and important music. The Me and the Devil video is great, I think

Pretty dark huh?  Suits the lyrics.  I like how Gil's recent stuff sounds, His beautiful deep (Marlboro) textured old-man's voice, juxtaposed against modern sounds.  Perfect.

Very dark - and the texture of his gruff voice against contemporary soundscape is exactly what is most fantastic about it

Great music, great performance but I just hope that folks never forget the message of Gil Scott Heron's music and life: that things need to CHANGE, very badly and very much things need to CHANGE, and that WE ALL have got to make them change.
