Will these sound good hooked straight to my computer or do I need an external sound card or something? I'm a total audio n00b, so I would appreciate some input. I don't really have the budget for anything more than these speakers right now (though I plan to eventually expand my set up).

I had the MKIII (ordered from Lockware) for a short while, and used it both with a good dac, and directly connected to a MBP. With the direct connection you lose some tightness in the bass, and some control in the upper frequencies, but the basic sound quality is there---and its pretty nice. The M200 has a forgiving quality, that will keep you going till you can upgrade your system. Its a good value for the money.
