taking possession of a 2000 BMW 528iT in a few weeks. needless to say, i'm pretty psyched. it's got fewer than 60,000 miles on it, and it runs like a charm... talk about a joy to drive.

having said all that, i'm sure it'll need time in the shop now and then. does anyone know a reputable, honest shop in NYC that does good work on BMWs?

TIA!

Nice but please.. A Bimmer? Is that supposed to be a BMW? Lose that name, BMWs are too nice to call them Bimmers.

Actually Bimmers is rather common name for BMWs. Bimmer forum, Bimmer tuning etc... In any case, while it is a slang word it isnt degrading, atleast not anymore.

In any case, E39 BMW is a blast to drive, great car. Turbo 530D owner here. Congrats OP.

thanks! i'm already darydreaming of little mods i'd like to do, although i doubt anything will come of it. it's got a brand new set of Michelins on it (not sure what type, though i think all-weather).

my dad has an E60, and while it's undoubtedly faster and more powerful than the E39, i actually feel like mine has tighter handling and hugs the road a bit better. maybe it's just wishful thinking.

over at Bimmer Forums, Project M-Spec in Brooklyn seems to have a good reputation, if anyone cares.

No clue with NYC anything, sorry.

I got my 128i a couple of days ago. 7 weeks from ordering it. The premium sound system is really pretty good.
