Oldman plays a lot of Villian (probably because he's British), Buscemi often play the weird character. On screen thou i prefer to see Buscemi, but i think Oldman can hold down a lead in a movie where i don't think Buscemi can. Even thou Buscemi often steals the scene when he comes on screen.
i agree ray. i like steve buscemi, who remembers resevoir dogs? gary oldman, i dont know much of his work really.. i can only think of two movies: batman and the fifth element
Buscemi is great, but Oldman is also one of the best in the business. His first notable role was in Sid & Nancy, but is very much know for being a method actor who gets engrossed in his roles. He was excellent in the Professional, True Lies and Immortal Beloved. Anyway, some of the movies he has been in.

buscemi
the remains of his characters gets progressively smaller in each movie he makes. reservoir dogs (shot), barton fink (burns up in hotel fire), fargo (fed into woodchipper), the big lebowski (cremated and dumped on jeff birdges).
Just to add, my 2 favorite Buscemi deaths were Fargo and secondly, I really liked the way he died in Desperado. For Oldman, his death in the 5th Element I thought was priceless. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead was just one big buildup to death and one of my favorite movies/plays. And I still need to see Sid and Nancy but I imagine he dies in that one too.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot, Oldman was uncredited as Mason Verger in Hannibal. Also a great death. Plus if you turn up and listen closely in Resevoir Dogs, you can hear Buscemi die. And I just recently learned that Buscemi has been "whacked" by Tony Soprano himself. I voted Oldman by the way.
Can anyone think of another actor that has nearly the death repetoire of Oldman or Buscemi?
Oldman may be technically better, but I much prefer watching Buscemi. I have never seen a Buscemi character that didn't intrigue me. Oldman has had a lot of "meh" performances, IMO.
The thing is, it's tough to really compare because we've seen Oldman use actual acting skills to play actual parts. His performances seem "meh" because he's playing the part and that is that. Samuel L. Jackson used to do that too. Buscemi just always plays the same kind of quirky character. It's not really acting as such, it's just portraying the same thing over and over again in every movie. Only the lines are different.
That's not his fault, since there's a little thing called typecasting, so either he can't act, or he can do a variety of roles and it just will never be seen.
