Oppo just sent me a free update offer, including free shipping.
The email I received was the following.

Thank you for your purchase of the OPPO PM-1 Planar Magnetic headphones.
Following the release of the PM-1, customers provided valuable feedback and expressed interest in increasing the treble response. Our acoustic designer responded with an alternative earpad design featuring slightly elevated treble response while maintaining excellent bass and midrange performance.
Ultimately, the standard PM-1 package will include both the original and alternative lambskin leather earpads. For existing PM-1 customers, we are pleased to offer the alternative earpads to you free of charge - you don't even need to pay for shipping."
I sent in my free update request immediately. The projected shipping date is sometime after the middle of August. I just love that company.
