Fostex TH600 Dynamic Headphones

That pages didn't load properly on my iPad either, but I just waited and it eventually reloaded enough that I could see the top ten list. The th900 is near the top.

I meant  to say re-think my position on the TH 600, my bad. The TH 900 was pretty sick for sure, I had mine modded for removable cables so I could drive it right from my NAD M3 speaker terminals and damn it for sure kicked pretty nicely.

Th-900 is a bass monster (good kind of bass), and there are more bass to bring out of it. It is the same thing as th-600. Check out my mod thread on Fostex and bring out more bass or mid to your taste

I have been following that thread, but I'm unlikely to do mods, I never get motivated enough. As I said, I have read enough posts where some swear the differences are extreme, some say modest, some say no difference, some even find the changes make things worse. With all that conflicting perceptions it just takes my desire to do all the work down to nothing. If I keep the TH 600 for longer than 6 months I might get up the gumption to try modding, but typically stock is fine for me (I'm lazy I admit it). An EQ adjustment already tamed the treble spikes on the TH 600, and that took me all of two minutes. See, lazy.

By the way, I'm not talking about your mod thread, I'm talking about other mod discussions I followed in the past.

It is really fun to take off the pads, and rotate the foam discs. Many people discovered that their foam discs were miss-aligned straight out from the box

.

That is true, I remember reading that. I think I should at least check. Thanks for reminding me of that. Cheers.

I checked mine when I took it apart to install the SMC connector, they were aligned correctly but when I put it back together I just put them in and the sound was different so started reading and found out about the foam disk.

So recently I'm getting myself MH-901s, been pairing them to my woo audio wa7 then to th600. The sound is just so amazing that i decided to buy the TH-900.

Will try to do some comparisons when I finally receive them.

Any updates yet? Be curious to hear what you think of the TH 900. I found the TH 900 more refined but the TH 600 is pretty close.

How many hours did you spend modding your TH 900?

Too many hours :D. It is my end game now. However, the stock 900 still is an amazing headphones in and by itself. I basically optimized out my setup, and surprisingly 900 is too good with what I had done...the Visceral feeling within the bass and sub-bass Tonality is crazily jaw droppings on 900. This system may not be an expensive end-game like many other hardcore enthusiast do. However, it satisfy my needs very well :D

I settled on this. The TH-600 is lightly modded to cure 8khz sibilants. The TH500RP are stock.

Still looking for another set of TH-X00/ TH500RP pads for sale though. If anyone has, I'm even open to trading for my stock TH-600 pads.

Does anyone use the TH600 (or more specifically massdrop THX00, purpleheart) for Gaming? If so, any input?  I would not get them specifically for this, but it would be about 30% of my use. I dont want to spring the cash if it is not versatile enough for use in gaming. (A mic is no issue, I use a Blue Yeti)
