Good for you.

I figured for those who want to try before they buy, this would be a good way.

Does Best Buy allow you to try products like headphones before you buy? Here they don't, though I suppose this could vary from location to location.

I picked up a pair of shure e3cs along with a creative zen nano plus Sunday at Best Buy. The 20 dollar gift card was a nice touch. Im very happy with my new combo. They both work like a champ for portable system in a loud enviroment at my job...

Karma/Eye for an eye/what have you is what this sounds like.

Btw, I'm not saying that what he proposes is, in fact, ethical. But, um, ya....

Circuit City has a 100% satisfaction return policy. They also carry Shure E2s and E3s. You could buy and return from them guilt free.

For sanitary reasons, some stores won't let you return in ear headphones. It's kind of like buying underwear or a swimsuit.

Are you implying that two wrongs make a right?

No implications at all. I may have worded that slightly wrong. I was basically saying that Best Buy sucks and that I would rather have him do the whole buy/return thing there as opposed to a mom and pop joint. Ultimately though, he should realize that he is buying a piece of electronics which are subjectively good or bad, and that he is basically taking a gamble when relying on somebody else's ears to justify any purchase.
