Madeleine Peyroux - nice on a Sunday morning on my mini monitors. Sort of a warmer voiced Billie Holiday with a good but unobtrusive band evoking a pre-war throwback feel...
thence into a slightier more modern vibe - Roxy Music - Best Of (cuts 1 2 4 5 8 10)
A unique LP - Clever angular pop meets baroque classical - but from a Blue Nun (NZ) label stalwart - so there is an edge, and also interesting lyrics and moods. They went mainstream a few years later sadly, with some sporadic good stuff, but not nearly in the class of Bird Dog.
Some Disenchanted Evening - Almost as good as Bird Dog
Grado RS-1x << Woo WA6 (Gen 1: Mullard NOS GZ-34, pair Brimar CV455 KB/FB): [Columbia: released June, 1985.] A utterly fantastic rendition of my favourite Wynton Marsalis album. An absolute must listen. Technique is astonishing, emotion is searing ... across all tempi. This pertains to all the musicians.
