Relaxed evening with earbuds, FranQL creations today. Right now on the dense and full sounding Caelum, running off tubes with Feliks Audio Echo.
Listening to Kelly Moran's latest album, delicate modern classical piano.

Sundara

Yes I prefer this 'vanilla' CD quality version.

A little post-show listening sesh in the wee hours of a Saturday morning, once again. I'm running the DCA Expanse off my SMSL VMV P2 with the Gustard R26 working double time as both DAC and streamer.

On deck in my queue, is Proud Peasant's release from the past October entitled Communion. I first heard these guys a few months after their last album (Pleasant songs rel. 2021) came out and I was pretty much instantly hooked. They have this interesting mix of neo-prog with stylistic elements that fit their kinda Middle Ages peasant theme. I know it sounds weird, but, if you dig prog, have a listen to their work before you write it off and my guess is you'll hear why I dig them. 🤘😎

This is excellent.

iMac > Qobuz > Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE (NOS) > Schiit Freya+ Tube Pre > Ferrum OOR/Hypsos > Hifiman Susvara

I remember spending months learning this track on guitar as a teenager. Rush is still the greatest trio in rock History.

This is excellent.

Man, I'm glad someone agrees because I thought it was pretty damn good myself. It's always nice to know I'm not crazy. At least as far as good music is concerned...😂👍

To keep things topical:

I'm just about to crash out and use Easter Sunday to catch up on some Z's since I've got the day off after a late show. Right now I've got the Shozy Magmas running off my Hiby RS6 which combined makes for some very pleasant listening. Honestly, the Magmas were a total shot in the dark when I picked them up and they've quickly become one of my favorites for laid back listening. Their sound is detailed and dynamic, but the presentation has this smooth, musical quality to it that is perfect for a casual sesh when I'm winding down. Add to that the fact that they're extremely comfortable and you have a great combo for some music in bed.

And for music, you ask? Well, I've got my favorite Hungarian prog outfit (who doesn't have one of those, amiright?), Special Providence, at the top of my queue with their 2017 album, Will. Ever since I heard their 2008 album, Labyrinth, I have been a fan. Their releases since then have been, shall we say, sporadic, but I've enjoyed every last one of them. I'm hoping they still intend to put out more material, but until then, I'm stuck getting my SP fix by revisiting albums like this. 🤘😎

Cool pick - Listening to them now and now I have a Hungarian prog-rock band to go with my Hungarian fusion band (Djabe)
