For those of us with multiple headphones, which ones are you listening with now?

The Symphonium Meteor has taught me to just let go (of EQ). It's inspired me to try the same with other headphones and IEMs. In the process, I realized that I have quite a few headphones and IEMs with unusually low pinna gain. I think there's a really cool trick that most of these tunings can pull off where you can really crank up the volume and the treble never sounds spiky because there's always more than ample bass and mids to mask it. This is what live music sounds like to me. Not neutral tunings. Huh.

Technicians of the Sacred (2022), Ozric Tentacles

Or maybe I've just been spaced-out from too much Ozrics lately. Everything about this album is like a time capsule. It's hard to believe now that there ever was a time when hippies were optimistic about technology.

Listen to Ben Howard I think you'd like his stuff.
Done- will do, thanks for the tip!

Likewise, I recommend William Fitzsimmons. Especially his slightly older albums are really, really good.

iMac > Qobuz > Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE (NOS) > Schiit Freya+ Tube Pre > Ferrum OOR & Hypsos > Hifiman Susvara

New NOS tubes in the preamp 1960's 6SN7GT-B-RCA Black Plates w/D-getters and they are melting my mind right now :)
Tube pre + solid state power is 👌🏻

Qobuz => roon => SMSL SU9 => Violectric V222 => Grado RS-1x :L3000:

Pale Season (2019) by TheNightTimeProject - All I know is that they are Swedish, they were formed by former members of Katatonia and that they play some very good prog-metal. They were another find from letting roon radio run, it's quite amazing how productive that process has been, it's netted me a lot of new music. I'm blown away at the improvement the V222 has made to the RS-1x, any shoutiness has gone, they are now really smooth but still have that special crunch for guitars, the combo is a real pleasure to listen with - just waiting for the Holo Audio Cyan II NOS DAC to arrive now and I'm getting twitchy. :darthsmile:

Malia & Boris Blank is helping me through the work day, with the brilliant Convergence album :)

Working from home today, so the Violectric V200 is on duty, as it is part of my desktop system. I started with the DT770's, but it's too hot today, so I switched to Tanchjim Origin, and they are doing excellent on this album.

I just can't quit the Symphonium Meteor. No other headphone or IEM (under $1k at least) has ticked so many boxes for me. It handles just about every genre and era I've thrown at it so far.

Shabaka Hutchings has taken a hiatus from the sax as of late 2023, disbanding his two incredible ensembles (The Comet is Coming and Sons of Kemet) in the process. Thankfully, the work he has done since leaving behind the sax has been just as mind-blowing as his sax playing. There are still common musical threads to be found between his new projects and his old ones, of course. Longtime fans need not worry that leaving the sax means leaving his musical style. It's all still there.
