Isn't it time Focal considered doing an IEM ft of Utopia with the same Berillium magic?
I bet that would bring out the Be Trolls! OMG! You're putting Be in your ear?!!!! OMG!!! Hahahaha

I don't know where you get the idea that SR009 is thin or lacks body. Must be the amp and/or source you used. My 009's with Phasure DAC and KGSSHV Carbon amp gives a full, rich and dynamic sound with great extension at top and bottom. Having said that, I would be interested to hear Utopia some day.

I got my opinion from focused and objective comparison. Right now the comparison is between the 2 pairs of headphones. Likewise one could say the utopia paired with some damn good amp and dac would yield even better results. So to make fair comparisons one should compare it under similar conditions. The utopia easily has a more fuller bodied sound than the sr009; even from a phone output. The sr009 definitely has areas which it shines better than the utopia. However on a overall experience would tell you the utopia is definitely the better headphone.

Headphones are like a 10 course meal. However unlike a meal which you can avoid certain dishes that suck. With headphones you need to eat all 10 dishes regardless. Hence it's more important to look at overall performance and pleasure.

It's funny and kind of ridiculous that that was the first thing I thought of too when I saw the IEM message. Beryllium-gate 2016! :D
I couldn't help it! I saw the posts and instantly busted out laughing

Agree, have them both here, the closest dynamic Headphone to the Stat 009 is the Utopia. No going to get into what is best here but the Stax 009 that I am listening to right now are not lacking in weight and is in no way thin or lacks body. Like pretty much all headphones I suspect the Utopia's are highly source/DAC/Amp dependant.

Although I must say: breathing that close to beryllium still does concern me. But I trust Focal knows what it's doing, and the science on the matter is good. (Right?)

First impression: I'm worried about the dust that will be covering all of my other headphones...
