Couple of interesting things - to me anyway - is the output impedance of the AM3A, and also the lower recommended "driveability" spec for the X7 + AM3 original (which I assume is a typo as the AM3 is actually more powerful).
In the original specs for AM3 in the FiiO website the Drive Ability for 2.5mm TRRS Balanced Output is 16-300 Ω and 16-150 Ω for the 3.5 Headphone Output: http://fiio.net/en/products/45/parameters
Seems to be that AM3 is more powerful and best than AM3A.

I also believe it to be a typo because the spec of the AM3 (http://www.fiio.net/en/products/49#AM3) states that the AM3 driveability is 16-300 Ohms. (I currently use the AM3 with a HD800S which is a 300 Ohms impedance headset)
The signal path after LPF looks wrong: L1 (left channel combined) is splitted into L- and R-, R1 (right channel combined) is splitted into R+ and L+. Or, is it too professional to be understood?
Do third-party apps (i.e. Tidal) play through the dedicated DAC or the SoC DAC? Not buying an Android DAP without this confirmation, after getting burned with the DP-X1

With FiiO devices so far, all sound is processed inside the dedicated DAC and there is no SoC DAC, so there is no physical way to process sonic information unless it is going through the ESS chip.
Haven't hear anything about DP-X1 before, but tested X5-3 and the sound is indeed processed in the dedicated DAC for all third part apps, same for the original X7 as far as I can tell.
@FiiO I see there's no mention of usb out, does that mean that those of us who have been waiting for our x5iii to have one of its advertised features are out of luck?
