Just an update on battery life..... I was getting 6 or 7 hours originally on low volume with WiFi and Bluetooth switched off playing a mix of mainly FLAC and ALAC with some MP3 files too. I thought that battery life improved after the 1.8 update and sure enough today I used my X7 with the same music at the same volume and after 8.75 hours I have 15% battery still left

How many of you have Norah Jones "Don't Know Why?".

When you play that song, at 1:14, does she distort on your headphones? I have tried on Beyer DT770, Denon D5000/D7100 and Sennheiser HD650 from X7 AM1 and X7 AM2. There's still distortion in all these permutations. What is up with that?

Yes, it's the recording. Terrible shame.

The re-master is slightly better but it's still there. This is the worst offender in her music though.

you could try to check this with Audacity (audacityteam.org), or with Spek (spek.cc).
depending on how severe the distortion is you may see it.

seems @x RELIC x was more helpful

Yeah, this track had me going bananas. I kept thinking something was wrong with my headphones and it lead me to purchasing $10K worth of head gear to find out it's just the recording. Of course I'm joking

HAHAHA.

It is an awesome excuse to buy more head gear! But I feel you on the bananas part. I was like $800 headphones + $150 cable + $650 DAP = distortion? Eff my life.

Relic, do you have a streaming service where you can get tracks to listen to if you don't have this already... it's the Destiny's Child - Emotion (Strings Version) track from their Survivor album. At 2.30m - do you hear it?

CH23, what am I looking for in Audacity?

i have this issue with "heaven" from Depeche Mode, and the remaster of "Incantations" from Mike Oldfield. it annoys me to no end.

Sorry, I'm not subscribed to any streaming services, and I don't have any Destiny's Child.

I will download and test too. What timing points in the track?

of which track? on the depeche mode track it's not really visible in audacity, incantations is very noticable.

Looks like LG took a page out of the Fiio playbook. The new G5 will offer "modular capability", i.e. a DAC which is installed much like the X7 amp modules. Pretty cool! :grinning:

I have been watching that one too. Seems like a great idea for a smartphone, except for one little detail (at least for me).

while my DAP is taken care of and never put to much mechanical stress, my smartphone (HTc 820 at the moment) is put to much stress, being inside the pocket, in my jacket, hitting walls from within the pocket, hitting desk from within the pocket.

I have no idea how LG will implement modularity, but I hope it is going to resist to normal wear.
