They pair rather well with the 99 Classics. I have used it straight from the X5 III and the results have been great. I also used it with X5 III --> A5 and the resultant sound is astoundingly more liquid to my ears. Looking forward to your review.

I'm sure they sound good together. I'm looking forward to using Nighthawks and various earbuds and IEM, too

You're thinking about the wrong kind of compression. What you're thinking of is compression for lossy codecs during file encoding. That does use psychoacoustic modeling, which discards sounds that shouldn't affect our listening.

cleg was talking about the user of software compression during the measuring process to even out the volume across songs. This limits means there's not as much difference between the quiet and loud parts of a song as there would be naturally. As dynamism, subtlety, and sense of space all suffer.

And to keep this related to the X5 v3 thread, my review unit is on the way.

My review unit is in the way as well !^^

About lossy compression : even though it doesn't affect some music, like classical, it can affect orchestral or symphonic metal or metal in general a lot as some of the discarded information was actually music content sometimes . Of course, this shouldn't happen at 320 mp3 nor at ogg -q10

The X5III really handles this very well.

Whick is better with x5 fir my aurisonics 2.5 cayin c5 or fiio a5?
Congrat.for the video Hawaiibadboy!

It depends a lot on what signature you're looking for! There are only nice words about both AMPs, but I heard A5 and would say that you will like it if you liked E12A

They share the same OP-AMPs, but A5 has more power!

  Not sure.

I have the C5 and will borrow the A5 in a few days since Brooko said it has a black background and it probably pairs well with the X5iii.
Brooko did a pretty thurough review of the A5

Yes Brooko's review is a great one and i agree about the black background. It adds dynamic, richness and timber (IMO) to the already versatile X5 III. I would love to hear your impressions on the pairing too
