I guess you can't please everybody!
When you are holding the device in your hand and playing audio, it’s natural to have ports on the top. Especially on the couch or bed when you’re holding the device closer to you, then the cable is not in the way.

Unless of course you prefer to hold your device upside down in your hand, which I always feel is awkward no matter the device due to placement of buttons, muscle memory etc.

Just heard the Hiby R6 Pro II.

I really hope FiiO stepped up their DAP game because Hiby certainly did.

It's the best implementation of the AK4499EX I've heard. Surpassing the SP3000 in all aspects except soundstage width, vocal naturality, and bass extension.

Do you ordered the m23 ?
The store should have it next week, but will burn it in for 100 hours before letting anyone demo it.

So I'll probably try it in 2 weeks

Is the low battery problem compensated by the good sound presented? In other words, is it still a good buy nowadays, even after some recent launches? On the used market, the R6proII could be a good choice, what do you think?

Don't know your requirements but I would have some gripes with it.

1. Output power is low
2. Not very suitable for vocal music, vocals are a bit dry and grainy sometimes

Battery life is still enough for me. I rarely ever use a player for more than 3 hours straight and I finished a 6 hour demo session with 20% left on the R6 Pro II.

But sound quality wise, at least for my instrumental/orchestral/soundtrack focused library it delivers in spades. So much so I'm going for a second demo session before I give my thoughts on it.

Thanks for sharing your impressions! Regarding power, there would be no problems, as I only use DAPs with IEMs. My headphones are open back and I use them with a desktop amp. But, I hadn't read about the issue of vocals on the R6proII yet. In this case, it will probably be a no for me. Vocals are the majority of the music I listen to.

what is the output impedance of the m23 ?
I would like to know that too. I use DAP only with IEMs. I gave up on the last 2 Shanling releases (M5 ultra and Onix) because of the output impedance exceeding 4ohm.
