I wonder if there will be a case with a clip for the ka17, like for the btr5? And when can we expect a power bank for the ka17, and will there be a case for the ka17+ power bank?
Dear friend,

Hi,
1. We do not have plan for leather case with clip for KA17 currently.
2. The power bank will be available for about 3 months later if everything goes well. And we have the plan for a case for the KA17+power bank.

Best regards

Dear friend,

Hi, we reproduce the same problem when using the DAC product from other brands, so it may not be the problem related to the DAC. We have reported the problem to Tidal support and still waiting for their reply. If you are convenient, you could also contact Tidal for checking at the same time.

Best regards
Thank you, will wait for an update.

Hi I have 2 questions regarding the Fiio KA17,

1. I have adjusted the EQ settings on the Fiio Control Website on my Windows laptop on Chrome browser. Does the EQ settings carry over to the Fiio Control app on my S22 Ultra, or not?

2. When i boost the EQ settings on the 1kHz to 16kHz range using Fiio Control, my IEMs begin to have some distorted/clicking sounds coming from it. Is this normal, or is this a problem with the Fiio KA17?

PS. the app seems to be really buggy. When plugged into my laptop and PEQ is on, the sound is leaning towards the right side now. At this point, there seems to be too many problems with the KA17, even on the V2.00 Firmware. 🤦‍♂️

Hello family of Head-Fi! How are you?😊

I update right now my fiio ka17 to the 0.99 firmware and:

Can not enter UI/settings after update.
Press button once: display go dark
Press and hold button: PCM go dark, no UI
Double tap button: mute

In the fiio forum, I have seen that it has also happened to others.
Has it happened to any of you?

I'm very worried.😔

Thanks in advance

Osk

I exclusively use IEMs. Can I benefit from using the external-powered desktop mode on the KA17, even in low-gain mode, given that my IEMs are easy to drive?

There are some outlier IEMs like the Final E5000 (low sensitivity) that will benefit from desktop mode, in terms of bass tightness and dynamics, but by and large, most IEMs would probably not need the desktop mode.

You have to factor in battery drain and heat on this mode for the IEMs (which generally do not require it).

The desktop mode is probably more appropriate for harder to drive stuff, eg low sensitivity +/- high impedance gear.

For me Desktop mode sounds better on any headphones. By the way, it does not consume much more power.
But additional power does not affect the sound at all, if the device does not have difficulties with power or battery.

Yes, I have done extensive testing with different type of iems ones that require me to use high gain and ones that are easier to drive and only need low gain. You will hear desktop mode even on low gain opens up the soundstage a bit, enough that if you were to switch it on and off while music is playing you will hear the change. I use it with desktop mode when I have external power available as it does sound better even on low gain.

Hi, I have a Sennheiser hd s2, on Head Fi on a tread I found an enthusiast who shared a file on Dropbox by
"oratories". I have to say it sounds good using the low/high pitch shelves. The world of PEQ is not a solution, it's a job. There are headphones that are designed around their PEQ. Anyway, I thank FiiO for letting me know about these settings

I have been extremely critical of the ka17 on this thread but most of my complaints have been fixed with the 2.0 firmware update. Stability is improved, less pops, hardware buttons for play and pause finally. I think it's a good device. However I still believe the ka13 is the better device as in hand it is so much smaller and lighter, and outputs only 80mw less (not 100 as advertised) but only uses 60% of the power.

Also the ka13 uses the same power in desktop and normal mode, whereas the ka17 uses more in normal mode than ka13 uses in desktop mode. but ka17 only outputs 270mw balanced in normal so a requires almost double the power to output it's full 650. Hence you can get 300mw MORE out of the ka13 at the same power draw just leave ka13 in desktop all the time.

If you don't have a desktop amp and want one device for portable and desktop use the ka17 is a good buy, but otherwise I'd recommend the ka13 for portable. So much smaller and cheaper and I can't tell the difference in sound even a/b testing. I can even drive my t60 argons with the ka13.

Again, you're measuring everything with bare power. If you can't hear the difference, then I can envy your hearing, which will allow you to save money and buy any DAC for 5-10 $.
I have to suffer and buy an expensive, but one of the best DACs in sound
