That does not change the fact these earbuds have a very signal strength/poor range, I found that out on day one (covering ear with hand and no sound).

LDAC also works fine at 24/96/990 if you only connect one earbuds.
The same is for me.
Very poor reception, the signal is lost for 1-2 seconds every time I turn my head! (1 meter from the source).
I suppose that the signal between earbuds interferes with the signal from the source.

Fiio FW5 - one person has problems with self-discharge in the case, a second person has problems with the charge, a third person has problems with the left earphone simply died, a fourth has problems with communication and constant interruptions! I was luckier than anyone - all of the above problems were present in my copy! I bought it headphones 5 months ago, only used them at home, didn’t throw them away, didn’t get them wet, even installed battery protection in the program, 5 months of torment, there can be no question of any build quality or super sound! Even if I came across a broken version, this is possible, that in all respects, all this can fit in one copy? The microphones do not work at all, neither good nor bad, they are not activated at all.

Just get rid of FW5, they are plenty TWS that works with no issues. I have changed FW5 to Technics AZ80 and I am very happy.

Dear friends,

1. For the battery problem, it is recommended to update the firmware to latest version for checking again first. If the issue remains, it may be a hardware issue. Please contact your seller or support@fiio.com for help.
2. For the Bluetooth signal problem, please try to turn off the LDAC Bluetooth codec via the FIIO Control app. And try to connect with other Bluetooth codec to check again.

Best regards

Please contact your seller or support@fiio.com for help.---

I contacted this email, but did not receive a response! My headphones have collected all the existing problems! I want to send the FW5 back so that they themselves can evaluate the product, which is positioned as HiFi headphones! It seems that Fiio does not care about all the requests, they are only creating an appearance!

I received an answer that I need to send the headphones at my own expense, then wait to see whether they will be repaired or not, or our mail will get them on the way or lose them. I spent $130 on the FW5, and I no longer have any desire to pay extra for shipping at least $20. Continue to invest money in broken goods? After 5 months of using these headphones, all my nerves were exhausted, I also managed to get sick with Covid, now I’m lying on the bed in complete isolation and breathing oxygen!

I want to show some measurements on the fiio fw5 headphones that I took from the review.
1.

3.
FW5_classic.jpg

FiiO calls tuning with a strongly raised sub-bass and high frequencies a "classic".

4.
FW5_harman.jpg

This is not how the Harman curve looks.
In the original version, the sound of the FW5 is close to the Harman curve, but there are nuances:

The "dip", which should reach a maximum of 200 Hz, is shifted to the right, to the level of 750 Hz. Which gives a virtual stage pushed away from the listener, as well as a droning on the bass, since the latter fits into the middle frequencies.
The peak is the size of Mount Everest at 14 kHz. Let me remind you that the measuring stands of the 60318-4 standard are not accurate after 10 kHz. However, this peak is there by ear, and it still is. Its position will depend on the depth of immersion of the earphone into the auditory canal, but this mountain itself will not go anywhere.
5.
Sine at a frequency of 4 kHz,

Fiio_FW5_4000hz_dist-scaled.jpg

Sine at 7.5 kHz,

Fiio_FW5_7500hz_dist-scaled.jpg

Sine at 2.7 kHz,

Fiio_FW5_2700hz_dist-scaled.jpg
After a number of measurements, the picture began to clear up: peak distortions are just in the 4 kHz region and practically disappear by 10 kHz. At 4 kHz, the difference in the level of the main signal and harmonics is only 43 dB, which is very small. That is, the distortions are audible, and they give the feeling of a "dirty" sound, which I wrote about above.

And after a few more evenings spent measuring the characteristics of the FW5, the puzzle finally formed. The above measurements were performed at the following volume settings:

32 units in the application, that is, this is the maximum volume of the amplifiers.
80% of the software volume in the FiiO R6 Gen III player.
Through experiments, it became obvious at which settings the delta between the signal and harmonics exceeds the minimum acceptable 60 dB:
— 22 units in the application;
— 100% of the program volume.

Terrible frequency response, resonances, distortions… Can something please the listener of FW5?

Yes, they can, they can please with sound, but after equalization.
1. 90 hz, G -2 dB, Q0.7, low shelf ;
2. 1000 hz, G +2.5 dB, Q0.6, peak filter;
3. 2650 hz, G -3 dB, Q2, peak filter;
4. 4800 hz, G -5 dB, Q2, peak filter;
5. 5300 hz, G -1.5 dB, Q2, peak filter;
6. 6900 hz, G +4 dB, Q1.9, peak filter;
7. 3470 hz, G +1.7 dB, Q2.5, peak filter;
8. 10300 hz, G -5 dB, Q0.5, high shelf;

Preamp: -2.3
