I am getting a Fiio e17 and I eventually plan to hook it up via spdif rather then usb but my laptop does not have a coaxial/spdif port. Could I just buy a hdmi to coaxial converter box and hook up hdmi from laptop to the box then coaxial from the box to the fiio e17?

Why not just use USB?
