Hi Guys,

Need some serious help.  My setup consists of a retina macbook pro , iPhone and JH13's.   I have been looking into DACS and amps for both my iPhone and MacBook for travelling and one for my desktop.

The question is....which would be the best setup for my JH's from the above...? or do i need any of them at all?

Why not get one good portable dac/amp that can be used for your desktop and for traveling?

JDS CD5: http://www.jdslabs.com/products/84/c5d-amplifier-dac/
Leckerton UHA-4: http://www.leckertonaudio.com/products/uha-4

Just get the FiiO E17.
It can use it's DAC and headphone amplifier feature with any PC or MAC (desktop/laptop) and it's headphone amplifier with the iPhone.

I haven't tried many DACs, but I've used the FiiO E17 extensively. I currently do a lot of listening out of my iMac. TBH, I think you should save yourself the bulk and the money. The output from my iMac sounds fantastic, and I would think the MacBoook would sound good as well. To my ears, properly amping the headphone in question is more critical than the DAC, and the MacBook alone should allow the JH13 practically to full potential.
