So my loved Fiio 17 Alpen 2 finally went to the electronic afterworld. I loved it and don't see a direct replacement from Fiio. I like great sound but am in my late 50s, so I get slightly overwhelmed by lots of features. My gear is a Shure 1540 (Love it to death and prefer its sound to much more expensive cans) Sennheiser 598, Sennheiser 239 and Sony MDR 1A. I keep looking for some flagship headphones but everytime I compare them to the Shure 1540 I do not enjoy the sound more.

My DAP is the Fiio M11 and Sony NW ZX300

Anyway. What is a good replacement for the Alpen 2 under $500 that I can carry around? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you for your reply I appreciate the effort. I have been looking at the monoprice. As with all of us here, I am always looking for better sound quality
