When I was out for getting myself a copy of GuildWars recently, I also spotted a new Grundig mp3-pcdp for 40 Euro at my local MakroMarkt over here - the CDP 5400 SPCD (pic and basic info: http://www.grundig.com/produkte/audio/cd-portables.html - some tech data: http://www.grundig.com/produkte/audio/pdf/CDPortE.pdf). I got curious, 'cause I spotted a line-out on it, and brought one of these home - tried it a bit yesterday: Quite nice actually - build quality isn't really something to write home about (the lid seems a bit wobbly), but decent enough for the price, features include the aforementioned line-out, 2x 10 mW on the headphone output (= should be moderately juicy) as well as defeatable asp (120/45 s mp3/cd) and some bass boost, package includes some earbuds (not tried yet) as well as a power supply & charger unit and a remote control (both not tried yet either). While I haven't checked the headphone output yet, I tried it with the PortaCorda II on the line-out, phone used was the K240S: Quite nice, actually! I've listened to a couple of cds (David Bowie, Faithless, Turntablerockers), and thingy produces fairly smooth, yet energetic and detailed sound with good imaging for a pcdp. Bass could be a bit more solid, though - but that might contnue to improve (it already did a bit) with further burn-in...

Greetings from Hannover!

P.S.: Almost forgot: I've also didn't notice background noise - which could be a bit of a problem with some older Grundigs like the Squixx CDP4100 and CDP4101 AS10.
